Hello and thank you for checking out Sparks Labels!
My name is Luna Sparks and I am a lover of art, music, and dance. My mission is to share my lifelong passion of doodling and to produce original designs that you will not find anywhere else. I use images from photos I have taken and create my own digital brushes, stencils, shapes, and molds from my pencil sketches in order to provide a more distinct product that defines Sparks Labels: Cute, Clean, Classy.
I was born in Taipei, Taiwan, but moved to the state of Oregon at the age of six. I graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor's degree in music, playing violin. Music soon led me on an unexpected journey to find my next passion: Argentine tango. Due to my love of tango, I now reside in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Ever since elementary school, I would doodle on the margins of my homework, tests, and worksheets. Sometimes if a teacher appreciates it, I would get extra credit. Sometimes if a teacher doesn't appreciate it, I would get in trouble for "not paying attention." It's really all a matter of perspective.
After graduation, I worked for five years at the White Lotus Gallery in Eugene, Oregon (before moving to Buenos Aires) as a professional framer. I got the pleasure to frame countless works by renown Japanese artists such as Katsunori Hamanishi, Toko Shinoda, Tanaka Ryohei, Jun'ichiro Sekino, Kawase Hasui, Kiyoshi Saito, and the Yoshida family (to name a few). I also had the opportunity to frame works by Morris Graves, Frank Okada, and once, a large original piece by Frank Lloyd Wright. It was a humbling experience to be around such great works of art everyday.
If I am not making art, music, or dancing tango, I am most likely found traveling the world, embracing nature, or sleeping under the sunlight. I am, after all, a cat in human form.
I am fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese, Taiwanese, and in the process of learning Spanish. If you would like your labels in another language, please let me know!
